Everyone has that one car that they dream about owning someday

Everyone has that one car that they dream about owning someday. For some, its a Lamborghini or Ferrari, for Ben Ladich of Green, Ohio its a Subaru WRX.

Unfortunately, Ben was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer of the blood and has been undergoing treatment for the disease. If you are familiar with chemotherapy and radiation treatment, you know how big of a toll this can take not only on your physical state, but your mental state as well.

Even though the treatment is rough, Ben has been fighting and hanging in there through it all. That being said, he still wants to be a normal teenager and he wants want a normal teenage boy would want: his dream car, a 2013 Subaru WRX.

After some quick searches, Ladich soon found that his dream car was nowhere to be found in his home state of Ohio. "He wasn't above playing on our sympathies for a new car," said Bethany Ladich, Ben's mom. "Still, we also wanted to be realistic and do everything in our power to make his dream come true."

Bethany and her husband Steve Ladich decided they would drive down to the local Subaru dealership and asked sales manager Shaun Swihart if there was anything he could do. After hearing Ben's story, Swihart said he would do everything in his power to make sure Ben's dream became a reality.

Swihart got in touch with the company's president, Tom Flory, who then contacted Subaru to see if they could get a 2013 Subaru WRX out to their location for Ben. "It was definitely a difficult car to get," Flory said. "After talking with Subaru, they did everything they could do to locate a car. There were none in Ohio but after talking with another dealer out of state we worked something out. We got the car for Ben with the understanding that, down the road, that dealer would get something in return from us. But it was really worth it and we felt great about doing it. Subaru is dedicated to doing things like that for the community."

With the car now in their possession, Bethany and Steve decided to surprise Ben during his birthday party, and would hint to Ben that his present was a 265-hp vehicle. While Steve and Bethany were busy keeping Ben occupied, the WRX pulled up and Flory and Swihart hopped out to present the car to Ben.

"I had no inkling that I was going to get this," Ben said. "I thought they would do something, but not this. But when dad said 265-horsepower, I had a clue."

It was a dream come true for Ben, and it wouldn't have been possible without his loving parents, and Park Subaru. It was a collaborative effort that paid off in the end, because Ben's smile was surely worth it. Undergoing cancer treatment is not a pleasant experience, and sometimes the patients need that something to put a smile on their face. For Ben, it was a Subaru WRX and a dream come true.
